Dapper Poinsettia...

Since Monday I've been puzzling over how to do this 3-D stamp Poinsettia from Hobby Lobby.   I love poinsettias now, but not so much when I was in first grade, another story all together.  Anyway, I was thrilled at this week's Merry Monday Christmas Challenge # 279.  I felt like I could make the poinsettia work with the FreshlyMade Sketch #326. I  also linked to Simon Says Wednesady Challenge "anything goes"           It's been rainy today and I'm a little under the weather from my chemo shot that I got Monday.   I have multiple myeloma but I am in remission for this season of time.   The Lord is good all the time and should my myeloma amp up again-He will still be good!   Thanks for visiting, I love comments!             kathy

dapper owl...

I really don't have any large sentiment stamps, but I am working to change that.   I wanted to do this sketch #260 at CAS(E) This Sketch.  Somehow I kept thinking about this"owl" stamp that I've had for years.   So I decided to computer generate an appropriate sentiment to use with an "owl".   I used Sahara Sand for the panel and Dapper Denim for my base.  I speckled the background with  light lime green and made die cut leaves with pistachio pudding. I left the owl uncolored because I like it better than coloring it.   I tied a mini bow with some dapper denim twine I had left from the card kit "Perennial Birthday". I finished it off with a light old olive enamel (SU).  I think it works well for a man card and they are always usually much plainer than for us gals. Thanks for stopping by,  kathy

forever friend..

I ran across the CleanandSimple website when I was looking at another gal's website and I liked what I saw and plan to try and do an entry every week.   I didn't quite get this one done as "clean" as I would have liked to.   I made it while my family, husband, dog and 2 adult children were crowded into my office/workroom looking at pictures from a race my husband and daughter ran yesterday.   It is always so wonderful when we can all be together.  I have always been a piddle when we watch tv, or whatever.  I "tested" a couple of new stamps from a Simon Says set "Choose Joy" a ribbon stamp and a plaid stamp.   The plaid stamp required stamping twice aligning the pattern.  I was very pleased with how this turned out.  I have rearranged my work area so that I stamp on a higher surface ( kitchen butcher block square table).   I bought it at a thrift store for $20.00 and a friend of our family cut some wood and make me the bottom shelves.  I have my paper cutters on the bottom and above them is my cuttle bug and my embossing folders and plates are in the box beside it.    I think by standing I will be able to make clearer and cleaner impressions with my stamps.

I also have magnetic board hanging to hold many of die cuts.   I bought an old frame at thrift store got rid of the glass and glued magnet sheets cut to fit the board that had been behind the picture.  I then glued scrap paper in a pattern cut in squares all over the board to give it design of sorts.   I use the little drawers on top of the table to hold scissors glue, etc. and the drawer in the table for my ATG gun and rulers and other tools.

Thanks for stopping and may the Lord bless you this week,   kathy

Daisy Joy...

I made  this card using FreshlyMade Sketches layout #325.   My husband gave me SU money for Christmas and I waited until Sale A Bration to use it.   The flower is from Heartfelt Blooms.   When I saw the sketch I thought it would be perfect for this bigger bud!   I have always loved Gerbera (Gerber) Daisies and this is what this looks like to me.   I really like the way this card looks and see making many more varying each time the sketch and papers.   Thanks for stopping by,   kathy

happy baby boy...

It's overcast today here in sunny SC, and kind of chilly; so I'm playing hooky from housework!  So here I go again with a "baby card"....of course it's always good to have one on hand, but not sure why I'm so taken with "baby clothes" lately.  My children are both single, but I have started working in the baby room at church and their stuff is so small, especially those tiny little diapers for the new guys or girls)  Anyway, the sentiment is Verve and the Kimona is Cuddly Buddly Crafts Digital stamps and I used  SU delicate details (last years sale a bration) to create the ribbon look on the soft sky strip which I fussy cut with deckle scissors.  The card base and envelope is from this year's Sale A Bration.   Other supplies:  soft sky ribbon, smoky slate and soft sky markers and stitched die cuts (SU).    I used sketch # 324 FreshlyMade Sketches for my design inspiration.   As always comments appreciated and thanks for stopping by,   kathy

I also am linking my card to TFIF Challenges #147, Sale A Bration Inspiration with the card base and envelope (tutti-fruitti)

Love you a watt...

Definitely a "simple" card....for my hubby, a sister or one of my kid's....birthday encouragement...or just because I Love them!        I used last year's SU Pun Intended set (hostess) a real red su marker and a yellow card from  tutti-frutti Sale A Bration.  I just love them with their cute matching envelopes.   Very fun.    Not sure where the red lipstick dots came from!  Playing along with CAS(E) this sketch #259

and TGIF Challenges #147.

Thanks for stopping by, may your week be blessed by the Lord.   kathy

Teal Birthday...

Today, I'm playing along over at Addicted to CAS #129 "Teal."    Last month I helped host a Bridal shower for a family friend.   Since she is getting married at an "upcycled barn" venue and is using teal, I bought a distressed wood plank paper to make her invitations.  I printed the invite on vellum and attached with ribbon to panels I cut from the teal paper.  The picture of today's card shows that paper.   From some of the left overs  I die cut Happy Birthday (not a fru-fru die cut). .  I cut the sentiment again in Lagoon (CTMH) and layered this on the card base and then topped with the Happy Birthday from the worn-wood paper.  It was "very forgiving" to work with.  For the card base I used Sahara Sand (SU)  and stamped some "tools" on it with taffy ink which matched the worn distressed look in the paper. The tool stamp set and taffy ink are from CTMH (retired).   It was very simple..which is what I like when I am making more than one card. In all I made 10, since I wanted to share with the girls that I stamp and swap with and also my sister!   She is always wanting cards for the males in her family!     Thanks for looking, I enjoyed participating at CAS..     Kathy

Flowery Hello!

I have a lot of "stamps" that I've been trying to use at least once.  The flowers in today's card are from a set called "New Mercies" by Verve.  I stamped them and colored and then stamped them again, colored, and fussy cut and popped for dimension.     I am playing along over at CASE(E) this sketch! #258.  Just a simple look, but a nice card to send to a friend!    Thanks for stopping in!   Kathy

Hello!   CTMH  retired

hello,baby card...

Making these "paperpiecing" cards brought to mind some very pleasant memories.     My mom was the absolutely most accomplished seamstress for her times.  She could look at a picture and make such beautiful and fashionable creations.   We were poor growing up, but you wouldn't know it by what my mom could pull together.   In addition to her sewing skills, she could knit, crochet and she was also a great cook, even though she had so little to work with.   When ladies of the community were "expecting" and the time to hold a shower was drawing near, she would get what she call "outing"...in appropriate baby colors and white and make the cutest little layette items as her gift....and she was very particular with her seams she always "pinked" them...in her words "the inside needed to look as good as the outside."   So for FreshlyMade Sketch # 323 I got it in my head to "pink the edges" of the paper I was piecing together.   The pinking went fine, using a die cut...but piecing it together was another story altogether--and the bottom card shows how that worked out..........So for the 2nd card which is above I just pieced the paper together like a quilt.  Great sketch and I will be using it again.   I took the very bottom picture to show how much the pieces looked like "fabric swatches" after I ran them through my xyron.   Mother loved fabrics and was always quite proud of her "stash."   If she was living at this time she would have been an avid card maker, WOW she would have been a hard "act" to follow!       Thanks for stopping in!   kathy

Upcycled Valentine...

Today's card is my "take" on Inspired by All the Little Things # 79.   I loved the bicycle with the basket and all the hearts in the inspiration picture.   I went with a unique (for me) color scheme because I wanted to use a "bow" that I had tied in my "remnants box" (basically where I store parts I ended up not using in other creations).  My goal is to try and use as much as I can before I start with new (we'll see how long this lasts).  I found a card base that I had stamped with lace across it and felt it was a close enough match for the ribbon...I then found some light purplish cs in my "cs pieces box"(which I thought was wisteria wonder-but it wasn't).   after I finished the card I felt it needed another layer so I cut the rest of the cs (purpish-who knows the color) and adhered it to the front panel...I will confess I cut and wrangled with it so it's not quite an A2 card.....Overall I think it is a very nice card to send to a good friend or family member.  It has a feminine look!             Thanks for stopping by and Happy Valentines to everyone!  kathy

thanks a bunch...

When I first saw this challenge,  # 257 at CAS(E) this sketch I immediately thought of this flower stamp and sentiment from (ctmh-yrs ago very retired).  A friend had given me some "old" dsp that she had and I don't know the name but it reminded me of crushed curry and fresh fig...so I went with that.   For some reason my "blacks" do not work well on acrylic so I used fresh fig on the sentiment.   I also used a variety of stampin up markers....thanks a bunch for stopping by!      kathy

Isaiah 63.3

For a long time I've been wanting to participate at Word Art Wednesday.    I downloaded the verse Isa.63.3 from their site, everything else is SU.  By the time I finished my card I had missed their link up (sad face).  Of course, FreshlyMade Sketches...sketch # 322 was perfect for what I had in mind (happy face).   I stamped the small flowers and the leaves directly on the verse panel and the flower and larger leaves on a piece of white cs and fussy cut them and popped them on the card with dots.  It can be used for many occasions.
