Coneflowers (again) Just Because...

This is my second card this week using the "Beautiful Friendship" stamp set that came in a kit last fall from Fun Stampers Journey.   When I got the kit I wasn't all that enthralled with the set and the cards I was to make so I stuffed it back on a shelf.  But I drug it out last week (partly out of guilt--I bought it-so I needed to use it) and started making a card and messed up.  But I liked the little coneflowers I had fussy cut so I used them on this card and since that card I have been quite taken with this set...I don't know if they sell it now, but in addition to 3 different size of cone flowers and leaves it has 3 very nice sentiments!   Now back to this card, I was struck by the vertical sentiment and the striping on the lower half of the card sketch over at CAS(E) this sketch this week!  I pretty much always look for a sketch to work with these days, it helps cut down on the amount of time that I stare at my stamps and cs trying to think of of a way to use them.  I also go looking around for other challenges that inspire me  My "cone flowers" would look delicious on top of those cupcakes in the challenge photo over at the Just Add Ink .   I digitally created the base of my card and then added other items to create a lightweight fun card.  I hope you like it and have an enjoyable week creating.  I am thankful that the Lord gave us such creative desire- it is so satisfying to work with all things paper, stamps and ink and now my digi stash!       Smiles,   Kathy

Blue with Silver Christmas Card...

As I've said over and over I am red and green when it comes to Christmas, but after looking at Joann's beautiful Poinsettia card over at Crafty Nana's Blog I was inspired to create a blue with silver card.  Of course my card is nothing like hers, her card is so beautiful and elegant.   But after all when we use what we have on hand...who knows what we will end up with.   I had in mind to finally use some left over mini "electric blue", silver and white glittery bulbs that I have had for over 10 years now.  I'm not a hoarder, but I always thought these were too cute to part with.  I used to work with a gal who passed a cemetery each day on her way to and from work and she quite frequently mentioned how much she hated those "electric blue" flowers that people put out on their loved one's graves, but somehow this is quite different, I think.   For the design I used the sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches and for the As You See It shallenge I added "something metallic, which is a piece of shiny silver paper.  It's a fun card and would work well for those "electric blue" enthusiasts in our lives!   Maybe I'll send it to my friend this coming Christmas!   Thanks for stopping by,   Kathy

Coneflowers Friendship Card...

http://addictedtocas.blogspot.com/

I got this stamp set "Beautiful Friendship" from Fun Stampers Journey in the fall as part of a kit.   I got it out a couple of days ago and started working with it and found that the stamps make such crisp images.  So I fussy cut a few and made this card!    I like it's organic look with the cornflowers and no other embellishments.  Funny thing, I didn't know what a coneflower was or at least I didn't think I did, so I looked it up and come to find out I actually have them growing in the beds out front of my house...echinacea!
The card came together pretty easily.   Thanks for stopping in!

Soothing Sympathy..

Using the Freshly Made Sketch #371,  I started playing around and one thing led to another and I ended up with a sympathy card.   The only part of my original plan is the base and blue geometric panel and solid blue panel and the sentiment strip.  It actually came together fairly quickly, once the base was assembled.
I liked this week's simple sketch and a square card is always fun!   Thanks for stopping by and have a great week...I'm finishing this up so I can go settle with my husband in front of the TV for the Super Bowl Playoff games!   I have a pot of chili beans on the stove and some cornbread awaiting us.   It's definitely chili weather here in SC.    Kathy

Green/Purple Christmas Tree Card

There were a couple of times through the years when we went to a Christmas tree farm to pick out the perfect family Christmas tree.  Our experience was never as exciting as that of the "Griswold" family.  Finding out that my son was allergic to real Christmas trees was probably the best thing that ever happened for me (I always hated all that gunk that got on my hands and arms and ate my fingers up).  I bought into the "fake" tree hype and haven't looked back.   The 52CCT color challenge of purple and green is a little out of my comfort zone...since I gravitate toward red and green at Christmas.  But it is the beginning of the new year and I plan to make as many cards through the year that I can--I decided to give it a shot.   I think the card is sweet and very calm and the family that picked out "that" tree from all the others in the background will be very happy with it.   Using the Tuesday morning sketch for this week as my inspiration, since I really enjoy using designer paper-- I think I like what I came up with, hope you do as well...and I welcome comments!   Thanks for stopping by!   Kathy

Ribbon around the Christmas Tree...

Using the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Sketch for this week, I created a fun Christmas card.  I had downloaded a pack called Freezing from KatyDidScrapDesigns (Etsy)  I cut the tree from one of the patterns using Paint to single it out and then copied to Word to make it the right size and then I printed and fussy cut it....I enjoy "piddling" at the computer. The base of the card is SU Basic Grey.  Pretty much everything I downloaded matches the SU Color Palette. I love the non-traditional colors and the crochet wrapped around the tree with some SU secquins (ret). gave a playful look!  I then finished off by stamping a sentiment from Timeless Tidings SU using my SU stamparatus (which I dearly love, since my hand isn't steady these days)!      Thanks for looking and I appreciate feedback!       Kathy

Happy Birthday Cupcake...

I'm still playing around with "digi" stuff.   A very simple but "sweet" card!   Really not much to say--except thanks for stopping by!

Cake TIme...

Today's card is an experiment on many levels.   The As You See It challenge 191 provided a great sketch for my idea!     I've been toying with digital downloads (paper and images).    For the base I picked a lace pattern from my online closet (everything organized by designer and kept on desktop for easy access) I printed it on white and cut it as the base of the card (the blue is part of the base) and then I used an embossing folder to give it texture.   I then cut white and layered the fun floral pattern panel on that.   I did stamp the sentiment on the little tag and tie it on.   I used Nuvo pearls for the toppings to cover colors that didn't quite work as well as to make it look yummy!    There definitely is a learning curve!      Thanks for stopping by, have a good Sunday!       Kathy

Teal and Grey Baby Boy...

For my "Baby Boy" card I was inspired by the Freshly Made Sketch #369.    The teal/grey paper is all down loaded from MNineDesigns.  My printer may not be the best in the world...but the designs are really sweet.    I am trying to go more digital with background paper etc.  partly because of storage and also I end up with so much leftover paper from a pack and partly because there is always 1 or 2 papers in a pack that I don't care for, we'll see how this goes!    I stamped the onesie (from SU Made With Love ret.) and then die cut with the matching die cut.   I used my SU stamparatus to stamp the sentiment (? from clearance bin at Michaels years ago) and the onesie.  Thanks for looking,    kathy

GDP entry, Encouragement...

I really liked the simplicity of the GDP #170 sketch.   A very sweet friend gave me a couple of packs of borders and some Bible Verse stickers for Christmas.   I used one of the borders (cutting it twice and popping the second one to give it depth.   Depth is what comes to mind when I use the Tranquil Tide DSP.   I also think of Depth when I read the words of Psalm 130.5.  Waiting is the most difficult thing to do it seems, partly because we live in a day and age where instant gratification is possible!   But at one time or another we find ourselves waiting because that is all we can do...Sometimes the season of waiting is short sometimes it seems it will never end.   I need this reminder from the wonderful words of the LORD through the Psalmist and perhaps you do too.  May this message bless you today!          Thanks for looking,   Kathy
