world just got cuter...

Is there anything sweeter than new baby clothes?   I just love this little SU hanger die (retired) and onesie...The mom who designed this nursery in forward thinking forgot to consider the cute little white pegs (enamel dots) would compete with the wallpaper stitching.  LOL.    It's clean (amazing since I pushed too hard on my SU pad and sent the Inked side flying across the room and sadly I could not put it back together again).  It's simple and loosely based on the Freshly Made Sketch for this past week.  Everything is retired except for the gray granite CS and the SU 3D Subtles embossing folder.  I could definitely make several of these to swap with my buds!   Thanks for stopping by and have a safe week.    Kathy

ran out of candles...

This week has been challenging.   My sweet sister went to be with the Lord this past Tuesday and though not unexpected our family feels the loss and will miss her being in our lives.  I also found out today that I have a lesion on the rt. clavicle.   I have posted before that I have multiple myeloma and after a stem cell transplant in 2016, I have been in remission.  My husband and I will be meeting with the Oncologist on Monday to see what is best to do about it.   I'm really kind of numb right now.   I've been tidying my work space and mulling over what to do with this sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches.    I decided I wanted to do a "fun" card  I usually do more serious projects. Using colored pencils I ended up with a a coloring book look--and evidently by the looks of it  the poor lady didn't do too good a job. I guess she was too busy hunting candles for the top! (LOL)  I pass most of my cards off to the sister closest to me in age and she will really enjoy getting to send this to her sister in laws in WI. ( I am making another one for her)  This DSP Playing with Patterns (SU) came a couple of days ago...such fun colors and playful images!      I will end this post with a prayer of thanksgiving!    Dear Father,   I acknowledge that you and you alone are worthy of all praise and worship.  Thank you that though I don't know what tomorrow holds, I do know that tomorrow is in your mighty hands and that there is no situation or circumstance that I will ever find myself in  that you are not with me.  (Psa.23).   You are always good and all that you do is good!  May your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven, and may all who read this join me in saying Blessed be the name of the LORD JESUS,   Amen        Thanks for stopping by,    Kathy

Birthday Dahlia...

Dahlia Gardens were big when I was a girl living in western NC.   All the ladies went from garden to garden oohing and ahhing over the countless varieties.   In late summer they would cut the dahlias and carry them to the different family cemeteries and place them on the graves.   Just a beautiful sight!   For this card I was inspired by CAS(E) this sketch!           Thanks for stopping in!      Kathy

Wedding Flowers...

Last fall a lovely bride to be asked me to do her wedding flowers.   She was my daughters room mate and a special friend of our family...so of course I was honored.    They were using white and green as the colors.  As it turned it out the church was probably the most beautiful church I have ever been...real wood and beams and floor length windows behind the podium area, just beautiful.   The bride primarily wanted just greenery, but I persuaded her to let me use some Stephanotis since it is such a historical flower in Bridal bouquets.    In January she was married to a wonderful guy and they are a few months in to their happily ever after story!  While I am not a professional florist I have done flowers for four weddings, two with live flowers and two with silks.  I hope you enjoy and get some ideas to use.    Kathy

Wedding bouquet card...

This card was inspired by flowers I made for a bride.      The card elements were organized using the Freshly Made Sketch for this week...It will probably need to be hand delivered because of the bow on the bouquet. using the Su retired Needle and Thread stamp and die, I used different colored SU inks and then cut them up and assembled with glue dots.  It doesn't show too well, but I used wink of stella on the leaves.  The sentiment is from So Sentimental SU that is current and it has matching dies also.  I bought this set because of the large sentiment stamps and it worked well with this sketch...Thanks for stopping in, comments are so welcome!   Have a SAFE weekend!        Kathy

Masculine Birthday....

Seldom ever can I say I just love a card for a guy...I'm of the opinion that because they don't just ooh and ahh over cards (or at least the guys in my life don't) that plain and simple is best for sure.   I ordered this SU set quite awhile back and recently have been using it some.   The colors are pear pizzazz and gray granite.  I used the little tool in the picture to break the stark contrast between the pens and the watercolor paper (a recent acquisition) so nice individual 8 1/2 by 11 inches.   I enjoy downloading lovely floral images from Power Poppy Designs.  I read that this paper would work well with my jet printer as long as I let it dry with markers etc.   The sketch is from Tuesday Morning Sketches...maybe this will give you ideas! Thanks for visiting,   Kathy

Farmhouse thinking of you...

Welcome, Happy Saturday to all my card making friends in cyberworld.   It's supposed to get in the 90's here in SC today...and be sunny.    I play around with using digital stamps and papers.   For one thing they store easy and you only print what you use.  My craft area consists of one side of the guest bedroom and shelving unit in the double door closet, so needless to say I don't hoard anymore!  I don't spend a lot for the digital paper packages from Etsy and some of them come with solid colors.  About a year ago I made this card using a digital striped card base that I made.   For today's card I created a card base with vertical striping using a "felt" look digital paper pack that I had purchased for another project.  I wanted to create a farmhouse look.   I actually have cone flowers out in front of my country porch.  I save the card base designs that I make in a folder on desktop and can change out the colors as I want to...I could do prints etc.  I think the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches is a great design for different looks and will definitely use again...I can see using the felt digi paper at Christmas.   I know some card makers don't care for digital, and I get that, but as I age my hands aren't as steady as they once were so it helps me to continue doing what I love.   This card is really a hybrid I stamped the stems, leaves and flowers and sentiment.  I love the sentiment font and size...such a soft look...Thanks for stopping by and have a good safe weekend!

Wishing you Recovery....

Challenges are so stimulating and I enjoy them so much...they're good for the gray matter!   Sometimes it's a matter of starting with the sketch and working with what I have in my stash to end up with a usable-sendable card.   I like today's card, it's different somehow.   When I first looked at the sketch at Tuesday Morning sketches, and different artist's take on the sketch, I kept thinking about the oval shaped flex toys that hook onto each other and are usually the primary colors.  The toddlers in the nursery at church  make necklaces to wear and to chew on (of course we clean them after nursery time).  With that in mind, I decided to use a die cut from the retired SU collection Swirly Scribbles--  Using papers from Natures Poem DSP (SU retired) I die cut the panel and the little circles that remind me of grapevine wreaths.   I layered the leaf panel with Soft Suede on a crumb cake card base.  When it was all attached it looked a little plain...so I gussied it up some,   I hope you enjoy it and thanks for stopping by...this sketch challenge was a challenge for sure!

A Rainbow of Just Because...

How beautiful when we catch a glimpse of a rainbow at the end of a storm.    I love when you see them in their glory both sides touching the earth!   The rainbow a promise from the LORD that never again would the earth be covered with the waters of flood.   We face so many things and we need rainbows of encouragement...Hopefully this card will do just that!   Code Word over at Addicted to CAS is "rainbow" and the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch worked perfectly for my simple card.     Butterflies and sparkles in rainbow colors adorn the Just Because sentiment.   I tried to do the Roy G BIV thing, but ran into a glitch when I got to the purple, but you get the drift...I downloaded some inexpensive "suede" look digi files to create the butterflies...the yellow didn't quite capture it, but the orange and purple worked great...I included pictures of the supplies and also what the downloaded suede look like when I printed it on my jet printer.   I used momento tuxedo black and used my stamparatus (love it so much) for a clean image!    Thanks for stopping by and have a good "hump" day!           Kathy

Hello Baby...

A simple sketch from Just Add Ink turned out to be a great idea for my baby card.   A picture below shows what supplies I used.  The paper from last year twinkle twinkle is so soft and I loved using the granite gray for the paper rick rack.   I colored in the tiny heart with blushing bride...and I could just as easily have used  pool party since both are colors in that DSP paper.   It came out as I pictured with no back tracking!
Thanks for stopping by...have a healthy rest of the week!       Kathy

PS: accidentally took a picture of my feet, but since it includes my stamp buddy -- Ms. Sydney I decided to post it!
