Stylish Birthday Card....

A few weeks ago on ETSY I ran across this flapper image and bought it for future use, not sure when the day would come!  And it seems that the day has come,  using the sketch from CAS Colours and Sketches, I decided to create a fun card with a witty quip about aging.    As cards go, the fussy cutting of this image wasn't really hard and I picked up the blues in the dress on the left with the card base and the rhinestones!   The vintage lace is from ETSY.   Digital downloads are easy to store, but  can be pricey to print out, so I am using them more sparingly these days.  I have many friends (my age) who would enjoy this card for sure!     Thanks for dropping by,    Smiles,   Kathy

Quiet Christmas...

So thrilled to be chosen  in the Top 3 over at Atlantic Hearts (this week) for this card I made in conjunction with Double Trouble!

I made this Saturday and will link to the Atlantic Hearts challenge and Double Trouble when it goes live on Monday.   Not sure why but I forgot to link this card to any of the challenges!    I recently purchased a 6 pack bundle of Scrapbook.com Designer papers 6 x 8 (40 sheets to a pad).    I think I will get loads of use out of these.  I got the bundle for 29,99  and several freebies (had to pay shipping).   It doesn''t appear to be available anymore.   The card features 3 different sheets from the Christmas collection.  I cut the trees with Honey Bee dies and embossed with a crinkly embossing folder (that I think looks all tree branchy).  I'm linking at Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge and 52 CCT22-24 (dry embossing of trees).   I love creating in monochromatic color and adding a pop of color ~  Thanks for stopping in,   Smiles. Kathy

PS back over with Double Trouble,  Turns out Twisted Sister and Crazy Cousin are very nice,  It doesn't pay to stereotype! After all a name is just a name....

Dragonfly Garden Card...

Not really much to say about this creation, I followed the sketch with some liberties with the rhinestone placement.   I think i turned out nice.   Thanks for stopping by,  Smiles Kathy

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

Thing 1 and Thing2 come across as mischievous and for the most part playful
But twisted Sister and Crazy Cousin--with those names who can so I'm sure hope I followed their guidelines correctly!
But I tried.    as for my you nique == I did colored pencils for the flower image

The new is the image and the ribbon

So many of you leave encouraging remarks, and I want to thank you for that.   I must admit as I age (just turned 69) when I see all of your work I'm not only in awe but sometimes allow myself to give into self intimidation.    But thankfully it's about the enjoyment of cardmaking not the skill.  Although believe me when I visit your blogs I enjoy reveling in your skill, it is one my favorite things to do!   So keep putting it there.  Thank you for using your precious time to stop by and look today.  I will try to keep it simple, by clicking on ANY of the photos including my card, you will be taken to that challenge website or a business site.   I make no money off any of these link.   I just know how much I appreciate links that take me to see where I can get what you used or tell me about it somewhere in a product list.    One last thing about  Power Poppy, her images are so user friendly and the details don't go away with resizing.  Marciella has also been so nice and helpful when I have contacted her.  Here is a link to Pinterest where I have a Power Poppy Category to include all the stamps I've bought or gotten free with the DSP cards for each one  from her site.  If you want to check it out click the highlighted Pinterest..

The sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketch was the first challenge I chose for this card.  My first love in challenges will always be for a "sketch."   That probably comes from doing Radiology for forty years.   The anatomy of the part to be x-rayed  had to appear a certain consistent way on all x-rays for them to be diagnostic.   While I try to be creative no,  in my job as a Radiologic Technologist that would not have been encouraged or appreciated by the Radiologist for whom I worked.

first time at this challenge...
Challenge theme "summer fun"
My vegetable garden and flower pots are fun for me each summer!
It's been hot here in SC...so even though I have to get up early to water them, it's still fun!

first time at this challnege...
Anything summery goes, with Summery Mood board for inspiration
I din't make my flowers all pink but I did choose to do a floral card!

Use something Never Before Used
New sketch to me
I have never used Power Poppy's Spring Border digital stamp
I have never used the sentiment "Hello Friend" from Friendly Hello SU
the watercolor pencils and enamels I have used them before

Thanks and smiles to everyone who visited,    Kathy

Hearts baby Card....

As I thought about the sketch at  Freshly Made Sketches,  this heart die came to mind to make a baby card.  It's a smaller card 3 1/2 by 5 and I used odds and ends from  my stash,  I tried not to agonize over it too much (as I am prone to do.)  I used my dotted swiss embossing folder, which is showing a lot of wear since it is my all time favorite folder.  My mother used to sew dotted swiss dresses for me and it just makes the perfect backdrop for the hearts and sentiment.  Just a sweet and simple card!   Although I'm not doing the optional bird twist I am linking to Can You Hndle the Pressure "anything goes."   Thanks for stopping by!   Smiles,  Kathy

Be Still and Know that I am God...

The Hues of Happiness DSP from SU is so pretty, so I fussy cut a few of the highland heather/purple flowers and made a couple of bees from the Garden Wishes Stamp set, the ribbon is bumblebee plaid, I used Black SU and the Grape Marbleous DSP to showcase Psalm 46.10  "Be Still and Know that I am God."   Thanks for looking.   Smiles,   kathy

This is the Father's Day Card that I made to give to my husband along with our adult children, We are giving him a very generous gift card to buy shoes at his favorite Running Store here in our town.  He an our kids are all runners.  He loves all things sports and the kids have gone to all kinds of sporting events over the years.   Sometimes they were praticipants with dad in the stands and sometimes they were all spectators.  Dad nor son either one card for hunting or fishing.  But they do enjoy getting outdoors for a good run, especially when it's not blazing hot, like right now here in SC.   I am playing along at Try Stampin on Tuesday (sketch), Inspiration Station (photo) Double Trouble (masculine and sketch at Try Stampin On Tuesday) and at Paper Funday Challenge (masculine).  And with all this DSP I've used I just have to enter at Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge.   I've never played over at CardzforGuyzs that I recall so since their theme is Father's Day, I'm going to link this card there.  For all of you moms out there and wives as well with husbands often playing on work or church teams, you know how dirty they come home...so I just gave in to the grunge with my image...My Husband has been a lifelong LA Dodger  "FAN" so I used masculine papers and enamels that fell in line with their colors.    I bought the above digital paper set for .99 cent on ETSY and I can see using it for other projects as well.   The Image and top sentiment is from Power Poppy "Baseball vignette"   The Happy Father's Day is from SU Celebrating you...  Thanks for stopping in, Smiles Kathy

Thank you Merlot Florals

I thought on this Tuesday Morning sketch all week and here is what I came up with..  I am also linking to the new to me--- Sparkles Monthly Challenge  (challenge is floral frenzy) and Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge.   I"ve linked to Pammie's Inky Pinkies once before and so I am participating in their Anything Goes challenge 2223..   The lace paper is an Etsy download and the floral is SU retired DSP (compliments of my SU demonstrator).   A group of us met this past Friday at her home and she had a mountain of retired DSP that we could pick from for free!  She is so  good to us!  I used Vellum to ground it all and fussy cut the flowers.   This is the first time I have used Merlot (SU) and I really think it matched and turned out very pretty.    Thanks so much for stopping in!     Smiles,   kathy

Whole lot of Embossing Going on....

"A Penny For your thoughts"   (Use a sentiment)
a new challenge for me!

A new challenge for me!

This card all started when my sweet Cairn Terrier Sydney awakened me at 4:30 this morning.   She had teeth pulled and tumors removed 8 days ago and although she is much much better, she is still getting up very early.  I think it's because she is on canned food for awhile, until we know her mouth is all mended~and evidently she likes it a lot better than her dry food, although it is a very good brand.     I've been in the process of organizing all my "supplies-toys."   So I thought while it was quiet around here I would finish that up, until  I came across a piece I had embossed with this embossed piece embossed on a similar color to Bumble Bee that I had leftover since I ended up using a piece embossed on white.   The more I looked at it, I kept thinking it would make corner pieces for a card...Because I now have a pinterest category of blog challenges, it's easy for me to keep up with which current challenges  might work  together to create a card...so her is is!  The sentiment I used looks better at an angle, it just may be me, but it doesn't always seem to sit straight!   As long as you visit each challenge blog,  I think my card choices will make sense.    Thanks for looking and leave a comment if you have time!         Smiles,   Kathy

dog therapy card....

A week ago this past Friday, our (almost 14 year old Carin Terrier) had a fatty tumor and 2 cancerous (non spreading) tumors removed...she looked like the dog of "Frankinstein"  with all her staples (if he owned a dog).  It was rough for the few days, she cried and I was up with her all night the first night.  The Vet game us his cell number and told us to call if we needed to know what to do.  She is much better now and we are so thankful.  At first I was planning on making a dog get well card. I bought a bandage collection from Etsy and printed on the white side of some gold to make myself a metal bandage clip to use (show in picture above with real bandage clips.)   But then I remembered this dog from a free download collection 2018 Making Cards Magazine UK.  I have used him and others several times on cards, they are such cute guys!.    So my thought processes for this card was to start with the anything goes over at Critter Crazy Challenges using this weeks Tuesday Morning Sketch.   I added in Tic Tac Toe Challenge using the 3rd vertical line:  embellishment, animal and free, and then decided that was enough...I wanted to keep the card clean and simple.  I remembered the dog bone clips and used them instead of the bandage clip ( I may need this idea in the future for sure)
I have grouped card challenge blogs on pinterest and that makes it easy to clip and see which ones might work together.
It's going to take longer buy I am carding my ribbons on card spools using card clips and hanging them on a hanger in my craft closet (RoyGBIV)   I will post a picture when that is finished.

I appreciate those of you take time to look and to comments whenever you can..It is such a joy to get to know so many of you who are movers and shakers in the cardmaking community.     I would love to have you as a blog follower!          Smiles,  to all Kathy
