With Sympathy

Here are two cards I made using a technique that I found online from Jill Baca Sunny Day stamping.

Just A Note dies and paper...

Today's card started over at Freshly Sketches (734) and then I ended  at Tic Tac Toe Challenge 291 (top row).  Clicking the photos will take to the challlenges and there still time to join the fun.   Using Die Cuts and Designer Paper (Hobby Lobby) retired SU CS and butterfly embellishments I made a Just A Note Card..   The flower die cut ( is from Frantic Stamper Inc) and the sentiment die is from Memory Box (both were new from Etsy sellers).  Cutting the flower twice using  2 different pieces of paper allowed me to offset them creating a slight shadow effect. Using another DSP (earthtones) I cut a rectangle, corner cutting the edges and layered everything on top of the base (also corner cut.) in the inside is  a computer generated  Bible verse, Psalm 29.2.  Overall it is CAS in subtle touched of color, design and images.     I am also reminded of Psalm 46.10 (Be Still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.)  Thanks for stopping by...May the LORD bless and keep you!        Smiles,  Kathy

Simply Daisies...

I'm not doing the volume of  "hobby" work I use to do, but I still like to "piddle" about in my craft room.  I have downsized to probably under a fourth of what I use to have.  My neighbor (much younger than me) has fallen in love with card making.  Most of my downsizing "clean out" found a good and loving home with her!    I also do a good bit on the computer, "hybrid" cardmaking.  Storage is much easier and shaky hands aren't as much of a problem.    So today's card is a hybrid that started with the photo for this month over at Inspiration Station...I really love the vintage look of the piece hanging on the wall and the flowers in what appears to be a milk bottle with paint rolled around in it.  So with it in mind I went hunting for a sketch and landed on the sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches for this week.   I'm happy with this clean and simple creation.   I give most of my cards to a friend of my daughters, she just loves sending them to her family and friends.  She and her husband live stateside but work with missionary translators all over the world.    Thanks for stopping by and be sure and checkout the above card challenges.    Smiles,  Kathy

All White Christmas Card...

Today's Card is made for the Color Challenge at 52CCT.    Years ago I made an "all white" card for a 52 CCT challenge, so I decided to try my hand at this (an expression I often heard my mom say)again.     I used a watercolor card base and then added a white linen DSP panel that I die cut with  stitched rectangles. This DSP adds an earthiness to the look, after all,  Jesus was born in a stable because there was no room at the inn.   The  JOY nativity is cut from white glitter paper and serves as a beautiful focal point...creating a clean and simple look!     I'm also linking this to the  "As you like it" challenge Simple or Fussy!    The message I wanted to send with this card is simple and clean....Jesus was born to poor and simple people, but He Is and always will be God the son and the Son of man!  The theme this week at Krafy Chicks is CAS  Thanks for stopping by and go on over to the 52 CCT site for the new fun challenge.    Kathy

Christmas Easel Card...

Click above to go to 52CCT

Today's card is made for the current challenge at 52 CCT.  When I first saw this challenge, I thought I would pass on it.   But somehow I kept thinking that while I haven't made many "out of the box" cards over the years, that doing the challenge would help nurture and keep healthy the "gray cells" still left in my brain.   I found an easel card online here and Juli Baca can tell you all about it.  It so much fun!  The last  picture above shows today's card along with the first card I ever made.   I was in first grade and by the time the used Christmas cards box got to me, all the Santas, Reindeer, and Snowmen had been picked.    I was heartbroken ( I still remember).  Later on when I was a young adult I found out that my mother had always loved Poinsettias ( a traditional Christmas Favorite in the US), but our family could never afford one. After I started working,   I shared with a couple of my girl friends  how mother had always loved Poinsettias and they insisted on helping me buy her a huge potted Poinsettia plant.   She was thrilled.   A few years ago when she passed away I found the poinsettia card I had made her tucked away in her Bible...I am so glad that was all that was left when the box got to me!  !
The images and background paper are digital print outs.   The sentiment and dies are SU.   Thanks for looking!       Kathy

1st Easel Card I made

(didn't quite get the directions right on this one--still cute)

Cross Country "Skiing Bandit" card

I'm scurrying to get this posted...I saw this Digi Doodle image at Stamped Smiles several years ago.   You can find Vicki's card here but she is closing her blog so hurry on over and see it before it's gone.  So adorable and well made, I just loved it.  I purchased the image and just now found an occasion to use it!     I fussy cut this little guy and used a Designer paper for his his background.  We're suppose to get a winter storm that most likely will be ice, maybe some snow this week end, so it was fun making a winter scene card.  This little raccoon is in the Animal Olympics this year, competing in cross country skiing!     Be sure and check out all the cards tomorrow at 52 CCT.    Thanks   for stopping in,  Kathy

"Bling It On"

I made this for the "color challenge" at 52 CCT Blog.    Taking the photo, proved a little difficult and I finally got this one without using light above it or a flash!     I have a special friend who will love all the bling!    I enjoyed it.   I haven't been doing much card making for a couple of years now.  I had to take time out for various other things going on!    Thanks for stopping by!      Smiles,   Kathy
