Pink Daisy Card

 

A few days ago I discovered the Retro Rubber Challenge, which is perfect for some of us who have stamps that retired long long ago!     Today's card features the SU hostess set "Bloom with Hope."   Such a sweet set I have used it on numerous occasions through the years.   Everything used on my Daisy Get Well Card is retired except for the SU Polished Pink and Soft Succulent markers and the Soft Succulent cardstock.    Thanks for visiting,   Kathy

Hugs for stitches...

Welcome, if you have visited my blog before, you will notice that I've decided to rearrange things a bit...this will probably take awhile (moving furniture is a lot easier-or at least for me.   We'll see how it goes as I personalize it.  For this card I used a current sketch from Try Stampin' on Tuesday  DSP seemed like a good choice since I struggle with using several colors on my work. I rotated the sketch one turn to the right so the fussy card flower would be where the black rectangle is on the sketch!    Faux stitching from SU die Cuts provides dimension and interest..   The DSP is SU retired and I don't know it's name, but I think the colors are all still current. The rose patterned diagnol piece was cut and then run through the zyron and then was attached to the striped panel  (5 3/4 x 4 1/2), so I had room to use the large stitched rectangle and it would be continuous around all of it.  Base is basic gray and I think the rhinestones are from one of the Paper Pumpkin kits!   Fun sketch...this would make a nice card to send to someone who is recovering from surgery--it would keep them in stitches!   Pun intended!      Thanks for stopping in and I welcome feedback!     Kathy

Psa.29.11 encouragement card

 

Today's card is stamp free.   I used Dandy Garden a new DSP from SU and downloaded a WordArt Wednesday Bible Verse Psalm 29.11.  Using the butterfly punch that is part of the Dandy Garden Suite I punched out a butterfly from one of the papers!     The design is this week's sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches.

Challenges are so stimulating and I enjoy them so much...they're good for the gray matter!   Sometimes it's a matter of starting with the sketch and working with what I have in my stash to end up with a usable-sendable card.   I like today's card, it's different somehow.   When I first looked at the sketch at Tuesday Morning sketches, and different artist's take on the sketch, I kept thinking about the oval shaped flex toys that hook onto each other and are usually the primary colors.  The toddlers in the nursery at church  make necklaces to wear and to chew on (of course we clean them after nursery time).  With that in mind, I decided to use a die cut from the retired SU collection Swirly Scribbles--  Using papers from Natures Poem DSP (SU retired) I die cut the panel and the little circles that remind me of grapevine wreaths.   I layered the leaf panel with Soft Suede on a crumb cake card base.  When it was all attached it looked a little plain...so I gussied it up some,   I hope you enjoy it and thanks for stopping by...this sketch challenge was a challenge for sure!

get well bear...

I found this cute little bear at buddlycrafts (a digi stamp).   My stamp stash is not very large, shoot my whole craft area is not very large!    Anyway I printed him on both sides of the bottom of a portrait microsoft label page in word.  I then cut the 8/12 by 11 in two lengthwise pieces folded them over and have the bases for 2 bear cards.  I also printed some same size bears on another sheet.  I then found the get well (digi) at Nettys' Cards.  I just copied to a word page and printed a few.    To make the card I laid a mask over the card and sponged with lilac mist (retired ctmh).   I colored one of the other bears using colored pencils.  I played around with the scarf on his head and on his arm, I then fussy cut him out and attached with glue dots over the one on the card base.   I cut the get well and rounded the corners and puffed it with dots in the middle and colored around its edges with grey to make it look like a jazzy band-aid....it was fun and I plan to get some more of these made!   The sketch was from CAS(E) this sketch!   Thanks for stopping in, I love comments!           Kathy

"girl power"

I have been looking at Fun Stampers' Journey for awhile so a couple of days ago I met with a new friend, Marty, one of their stamping coaches.    If interested you can find her at martyZstamps.   I loved everything she showed me.   She also gave me a sheet of stamped images....which I used to make this card using the FMS sketch #327.   The panel paper is CTMH Adventure Fundamentals to which   I added some green from a retired SU watercolor pencils set, not sure you can see it in photo.   I used retired watercolor pencils to color the images which are from the FSJ February bloom box.   The sentiment is FSJ as well.   I added some natural twine and some black enamels (from stash).   I definitely like the sketch and plan to use this with different stamps to create (with a group of ladies from my neighborhood) about 20 cards to donate to a local ministry group.  I placed an order with FSJ and I can't wait until it comes....I'm excited to learn new techniques each month with a bloom box.     Thanks for stopping in...kathy
