Monochromatic Hello...

I tend to not be adventuresome when it comes to colors so it's no surprise that I went for a modified monochromatic look.   The papers came from my stash,  the base paper does not have a crease as the picture seems to indicate--that's actually how the paper came with weathered looking places.  I fancy cut the flowers from the edge of a floral patterned paper, carefully cutting the green leaves away.   There are three edge pieces that comprise the vertical cascade of flowers.  I popped the largest one near the sentiment (which is from Color Me Happy SU retired).   I also made the butterflies from the floral paper using the SU Embosslits Beautiful Wings that I have had for years.   I used black to layer them with the next size up butterfly.  I topped it all of with SU Pearls.   It was fun to make...I hope it's monochromatic enough--since black is a neutral!  Thanks for stopping in and comments are always appreciated.    Kathy

Hello Spring...

SSS June 2018 Kit #3 thanks...

For some reason, I'm really enamored with the SSS June Kit of the Month, featuring a lovely "floral swag" in the Beautiful Flowers stamp set....I'm still a coward when it comes to diving in the water color samples that were included with the kit.   The card I've made is pretty simple,  I used "colored pencils, and the sentiment is from CTMH (very retired).  I had already stamped the Rt side of the watercolor panel when I decided to add the sentiment, I must admit I was a little nervous realizing I had only one chance to get it right!   I then stamped the flowers on the Lt side of a watercolor paper panel and "fussy" cut it and added to the Lt side of the card with pop dots.  The rose across the bottom doesn't show very well, but popping it up really turned out well.  Also I added Nuvo Shimmer on the flowers...that too adds so much.  In keeping with the "sketch" I  finished it off with 3 SU  rhinestones where the sentiment appears.     It was fun and I learned some "new" things.   Thanks for stopping in and have a wonderful week!  Kathy

Though not exactly the colors of the sketch, I do like how cheerful this card is.  The Bible verse is from Verve and I think it is retired.   The houndstooth stamp is CTMH and is definitely retired.   It was fun making the card.   This is my first time to play along at CAS Colours & Sketches.   I am also linking to Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge and Word Art Wednesday....both of these sites are worth checking out!   Thanks for visiting!

Using the downloadable Bible Verse for this week over at Word Art Wednesday, I made a card of encouragement (at least the verse encouraged me as I made the card and may whoever receives it be blessed).    A long time ago when I was working in Radiology as an X-Ray Tech, one of my co-workers who did QA for Mammography came to me and asked me if I wanted a large acrylic block that they were nolonger using for QA.  She knew I made cards and used small acrylic blocks to put my stamps on.  Anyway, I said sure and put it away, clueless about how I would really ever use it.   But as you can see the floral stamp from the SSS June Kit turned out to be bigger than any of my blocks.   I remembered this block and dug it out of the closet to use....you could say "it's the biggest block on the block."   I used a 4 label page in word (each label is size 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 landscape). I printed it on white cs. (8 1/2 by 11) then cut it into four pieces.   I then placed the stamp on the block and inked it up and laid my cut verse panel over the stamp twice to create the arcing bouquet...I then cut a single flower and popped it.   I used American Craft colored pencils, nuvo shimmer brush (on flowers) and added the rhinestones around the verse.    I did stamp a leaf over the word he on the 4th line of the verse, but in person you can still see that.  In person the flowers are shimmery as well.   I was pleased over all!      I am going to enjoy this kit!       Thanks for looking, comments are welcome.   I would especially like to know the name of this flower!          Kathy

Three Bulbs...

When I saw this sketch, Freshly Made Sketches #338, I knew that I wanted to use the three Crocus flowers that came with a craft magazine (UK) I purchased awhile back...they were the main reason I wanted this set.   I'm sure I'll find something to do with the rest of the set.   I love pinstripe, so when I was putting away the puffy stickers from the SSS May stamp kit, I kept the insert sheet and cut some of it to use as the front panel of this card.  It really is a simple look...It would be a great card to send to a friend, who loves gardening.   Since I retired---I am trying my hand at gardening.  I have some new bushes that I planted in front of my porch and some tomatoes in a raised bed in the back yard.   Their looking so good...hopefully I will have tomatoes in abundance to share with neighbors!

Wellies- floral birthday

 This card is made with the cutest stamp from a set called "Showers and Flowers" from the March Kit of the month--Simon Says.   I am trying to use items from my stash so I chose this long fold card from CTMH in Ivory...I cut of the part that folded over the end and made it just one long card that opened on the side.  To soften the ivory I stamped a patterned stamp with color box white...let it dry over night.  I used the ribbon stamp from  "Choose Joy" also a stamp set in the Simon Says Box.   I stamped it in SU wild wasabi and it picked up the pattern that I had stamped on the paper...I then stamped an ivory panel with the welly boots and colored them with the panel laying on the soft side of my ctmh cutting mat...it helped the pencil colors to blend well (they are not expensive pencils--maybe some day with a coupon that will change)   I then fussy cut used some burlap behind the boots and some baker twine with gold.  It will make a good card for someone you give a check too as a birthday present...even a guy would welcome the flowers if it comes with money!        The sentiment was from the SU Perennial Birthday Set (current SU catalog for spring)   I love this set and also the card kit that came with it....very nice card bases and embellishment included!

"girl power"

I have been looking at Fun Stampers' Journey for awhile so a couple of days ago I met with a new friend, Marty, one of their stamping coaches.    If interested you can find her at martyZstamps.   I loved everything she showed me.   She also gave me a sheet of stamped images....which I used to make this card using the FMS sketch #327.   The panel paper is CTMH Adventure Fundamentals to which   I added some green from a retired SU watercolor pencils set, not sure you can see it in photo.   I used retired watercolor pencils to color the images which are from the FSJ February bloom box.   The sentiment is FSJ as well.   I added some natural twine and some black enamels (from stash).   I definitely like the sketch and plan to use this with different stamps to create (with a group of ladies from my neighborhood) about 20 cards to donate to a local ministry group.  I placed an order with FSJ and I can't wait until it comes....I'm excited to learn new techniques each month with a bloom box.     Thanks for stopping in...kathy 

Dapper Poinsettia...

Since Monday I've been puzzling over how to do this 3-D stamp Poinsettia from Hobby Lobby.   I love poinsettias now, but not so much when I was in first grade, another story all together.  Anyway, I was thrilled at this week's Merry Monday Christmas Challenge # 279.  I felt like I could make the poinsettia work with the FreshlyMade Sketch #326. I  also linked to Simon Says Wednesady Challenge "anything goes"           It's been rainy today and I'm a little under the weather from my chemo shot that I got Monday.   I have multiple myeloma but I am in remission for this season of time.   The Lord is good all the time and should my myeloma amp up again-He will still be good!   Thanks for visiting, I love comments!             kathy

happy baby boy...

It's overcast today here in sunny SC, and kind of chilly; so I'm playing hooky from housework!  So here I go again with a "baby card"....of course it's always good to have one on hand, but not sure why I'm so taken with "baby clothes" lately.  My children are both single, but I have started working in the baby room at church and their stuff is so small, especially those tiny little diapers for the new guys or girls)  Anyway, the sentiment is Verve and the Kimona is Cuddly Buddly Crafts Digital stamps and I used  SU delicate details (last years sale a bration) to create the ribbon look on the soft sky strip which I fussy cut with deckle scissors.  The card base and envelope is from this year's Sale A Bration.   Other supplies:  soft sky ribbon, smoky slate and soft sky markers and stitched die cuts (SU).    I used sketch # 324 FreshlyMade Sketches for my design inspiration.   As always comments appreciated and thanks for stopping by,   kathy
