Poppies Sympathy...

Welcome to my blog.  Today is a beautiful sunny but hot day here in South Carolina, I am thankful for our air conditioned home.  We have lived in our current home for about 31 years and tomorrow we begin a much needed and anticipated renovation.   We (our handyman) is taking down the wall between the dining room and the kitchen....I will post pictures here later on...but for now I hope you enjoy today's card.   I really wanted to water color but just couldn't make that work out (I'm ordering the blender brushes from SU-we'll see if that helps).    The image is a free download that I printed on my inkjet printer and then I just colored with pencils...the sentiment is from Verve (no longer available)....I based the design on the sketch over at Tuesday Morning Sketches.    Thanks for stopping in and a belated happy 4th of July to you all.  Kathy

Sympathy, butterflies and buds...

My card is inspired by Just Add Ink, and I decided to keep it simple today, SSS spring kit 2018 paper, favorite font sentiment (very old) and retired SU butterfly die cut folder thingy with black string!   A card for my husband to send a female co-worker.  However, after working with ITunes on my Iphone I can no longer upload pictures straight to my computer.  So I uploaded to pinterest and then saved it as...and here it is!    I am through for today...but tomorrow I will call my computer people(Geek squad) and get this all fixed.   On another note (no pun intended)...my ITunes work great!  Have a good week!   Kathy

Soothing Sympathy..

Using the Freshly Made Sketch #371,  I started playing around and one thing led to another and I ended up with a sympathy card.   The only part of my original plan is the base and blue geometric panel and solid blue panel and the sentiment strip.  It actually came together fairly quickly, once the base was assembled.
I liked this week's simple sketch and a square card is always fun!   Thanks for stopping by and have a great week...I'm finishing this up so I can go settle with my husband in front of the TV for the Super Bowl Playoff games!   I have a pot of chili beans on the stove and some cornbread awaiting us.   It's definitely chili weather here in SC.    Kathy

Nature's Poem Sympathy...

I really enjoy layering on my cards so when I saw the card Heather Heroldt had made using the As You See It Sketch I decide to give it go myself.  Since I always enjoy playing along over at Fab Friday, for today's card I used their color challenge even though that is the hardest kind of challenge for me...I employed the "throw some paint on the wall and see what sticks" method for awhile trying to come up with something and finally I chose the Nature's Poem DSP paper cut an oval and built from there. For all my fussing around with it, I think I came up with a  clean and vintage effect (CAVE).  The color in photo is a little off.   Since I only have a mossy meadow ink pad (no paper) I stamped the sentiment in that and made leaves using the petite petal stamp and backed the pink flower to bring it out some!     As always thanks for stopping by,  Kathy

Heartfelt Roses...

I recently downloaded some "papers" from Papercraft Essentials #162 by Joanna Sheen.  I'm playing around with what to do with them...in some ways, today's card is the equivalent of recycling old cards.   The card base (not layered on another white card) and single rose are from this collection,  I used colored pencils to enliven the printed based flowers and then painted the fussy cut rose with nuvo shimmer pen.   The sentiment is from Heartfelt Blooms (SU) and finished off with black string (FSJ) and pearls (SU).  I would send this as a Sympathy card.  Even though it's mostly digital, doesn't necessarily mean it's easy for me.  There is so much I'm learning, but having the ability to save the card base to my computer will help me with a class that I am getting together for some friends to make cards for ministry.    We can use digitally created bases and decorate the fronts.    This may just be a phase the jury is still out.   But I did love the way this card turned out using digital base and image.  Thanks for stopping by,   Kathy

Freshly Made Sketches

Dahlia Sympathy...

I was inspired by Card Concept Challenge #89 going for a layered clean look using "yellow" as my focal point.   Sketch #330 at  Freshly Made Sketches worked so well for me to use a new stamp set to make a sympathy card.   It's pretty straight forward.   I stamped the dahlia on water color paper with staz on and used SU retired water color crayons (Yo Yo Yellow and Barely Banana) with an aqua brush.    I also painted SU pearls with a Yellow sharpie.   You can't see it very well, but I highlighted the dahlia with a Nuvo Shimmer glitter pen (from Simon Says).

Autumn Sympathy...

I made this card using some leaf scraps a friend gave me Friday night when I went to her SU party.  I free-handed the veins on the leaves to soften the look!  I think it's gentle and comforting.   I was very inspired by Brian King's card---Supplies:   Verve New Mercies   SU Crumb Cake CS and the rest is retired or I don't know where I got it!

Sympathy....

Here is my take on FMS 298.   I'm still learning and don't know to link the sketch.    I use TLC for the sentiments (CTMH retired)   also retired Brushstroke papers.   The linear swirl is SU.......This was definitely a challenge!   I turned the sketch clockwise.....
